Worcester Educational Development Foundation, Inc. (WEDF) was founded in 2005 for the sole purpose of supporting students and teachers in the Worcester Public Schools. WEDF, fashioned operationally and structurally after the highly successful Boston Educational Development Foundation, Inc.The WEDF is similar to hundreds of other organizations across the country that support school districts and will not supplant tax dollars, but rather will provide support for the enhancement of programs and facilities that address the many needs of a large urban school system. |

Sandra Mayrand, Executive Director of the Regional Science Resource Center, UMASS Medical School, was elected the second president of the Worcester Educational Development Foundation’s board of directors. Ms. Mayrand, who resides in Shrewsbury, succeeds Dr. Stephen Mills, founding president. In addition, Dr. Melinda Boone, the new superintendent of the Worcester Public Schools, will serve as an ex officio board member and Dr. Mills was elected honorary director for his work in establishing the foundation.Other officers and members include: Vice President: Louise Clarke Treasurer: Karen Duffy Clerk: Brian O’Connell Members: Frances Arena, David Brunelle, Dr. James Caradonio, Maureen Ciccone, Cheryl DelSignore, Dr. John Durkin, June Eressy, William Foley, Maria Gorsuch-Kennedy, Dr. Sheila Graham, Dr. Deirdre Loughlin, Joseph MacDougall, Jr., Linda McGowan, Dr. Sergio Paez, Robert Spellane, Janice Weekes, and Wyatt Wade. |
