Worcester Educational Development Foundation, Inc. (WEDF) was founded in 2005 for the sole purpose of supporting students and teachers in the Worcester Public Schools. WEDF, fashioned operationally and structurally after the highly successful Boston Educational Development Foundation, Inc.
Sandra Mayrand, Executive Director of the Regional Science Resource Center, UMASS Medical School, was elected the second president of the Worcester Educational Development Foundation’s board of directors. Ms. Mayrand, who resides in Shrewsbury, succeeds Dr. Stephen Mills, founding president. In addition, Dr. Melinda Boone, the new superintendent of the Worcester Public Schools, will serve as an ex officio board member and Dr. Mills was elected honorary director for his work in establishing the foundation.
